BUFFALO GINGER TATTOO: Brand Photography Campaign

PROJECT INSIGHT

A tattoo shop's brand lives in two places: on the walls of the shop and on the screen before a client ever walks through the door. Buffalo Ginger Tattoo had the talent, the aesthetic, and a loyal following built on word of mouth. What they needed was imagery that could tell that story to someone who'd never been in the chair.

Opportunity

Buffalo Ginger approached this project wanting to move beyond phone snapshots and social media grabs. The shop had a distinct visual identity, a specific clientele, and artists with individual styles worth showcasing. The goal was a cohesive image library that could anchor a website redesign, drive Instagram content for months, and position the shop as a serious creative destination rather than just another walk-in option.

APPROACH

The shoot was built around three pillars: the artists, the work, and the environment. Artist portraits were shot with intention, lighting and framing that reflected each person's individual personality and style rather than a generic headshot approach. In-progress work was captured to show craft and focus, the kind of images that make a potential client feel confidence before they book. Shop environment photography documented the space as a destination, shelves, flash art, the texture of a well-worn shop that has earned its character. Together the three threads built a complete picture of what Buffalo Ginger is.

THE SHOP IS THE BRAND.

A tattoo parlor sells two things: trust and taste. Clients are making a permanent decision based largely on how a shop presents itself before the first conversation happens. Buffalo Ginger had both the trust and the taste. The photography just needed to make that visible to someone scrolling at midnight trying to decide where to book.

Key Outcomes:

  • Delivered a complete brand image library spanning artist portraits, in-progress work, and shop environment content

  • Created social media-ready assets structured for months of consistent posting

  • Produced artist-specific imagery that showcased individual styles within a cohesive visual system

  • Positioned the shop as a creative destination with a distinct identity in a competitive market

  • Provided print-ready files for shop signage, merch, and promotional use

Client Testimonial:

"We'd been putting off a real shoot for years because we didn't know if it would translate. Jason understood the shop immediately. The images felt like us, not like a stock photo version of a tattoo parlor." — Cassidy M., Owner, Buffalo Ginger Tattoo
